Born in 2016, Talking Hands encourages participants to use the design process and manual activity as a form of narration where biographies, journeys and dreams can be explored.
This newly created capsule collection is called Mixité. It is a celebration of diversity that comprises of reversable, unisex coats. Even though they are cut from the same pattern, each coat is a unique representation of differing tailors and fabrics. One side of the coat is created from African wax fabric and the other is Italian Paoletti wool. The Lanificio Paoletti mill was founded in 1795 and has been manufacturing Belluno Prealps wool for ten generations. Their wool has no artificial bleaching or coloring and because it is sourced locally, it has a zero carbon footprint.

From 3 to 9 august 2020 Talking Hands will host the artist Seba Kurtis in residence. Seba Kurtis was born in Argentina in 1974. He studied journalism in Buenos Aires before leaving the country for Europe in the wake of the political and economic crisis of 2001. Several years spent as an illegal immigrant have informed much of his work, which explores the personal, social and cultural impact of irregular migration.

Talking Hands are joining forty other guests made up of likeminded artists and collectives to conceptualise the theme of 'Reclaim'. To reclaim is to take back power. The exhibition uses this idea to share individual stories through a collective narrative and to investigate contemporary issues from the ground up. The exhibition opens on 23 January in via Capo Di Lucca, Bologna.

Read moreOn Thursday November 14th, 2019, starting at 7.00pm, T Fondaco dei Tedeschi will host a meeting with the founders of three associations and cooperatives whose mission is to promote social inclusion through fashion. Talking Hands, Progetto Quid and Banco Lotto n. 10 will present their collections and exchange innovative practices and ideas. It is hoped that synergies will form between the three.
